Some Observations on Puerperal Sepsis, with Special Reference to Its Occurrence in Maternity Hospitals *Read 14th May 1930.

cases developing sepsis from 5-6 per cent, to 1-6 per cent., and of suspect cases from 12-4 per cent, to 6-9 per cent. The improved results for suspect cases can only be explained by the better supervision and intensive nursing which they received. This must also have played an important part in the betterment of the clean cases. A " scare " regarding sepsis has a general tonic effect on nursing as a whole.
